Melukat Ceremony at Taman Sala Temple

Priced per person. Requires a minimum of 2 participants.

$53.00

Experience a guided Melukat Ceremony, the sacred Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, at Taman Pecampuhan Sala Temple. Cleanse your body, mind, and spirit in the temple’s holy spring and cascading waters, guided by a knowledgeable local who will lead you through each ritual with deep cultural insight.

The penglukatan (purification site) at Taman Pecampuhan Sala was created by the local community as a place for cleansing the body and spirit from negative influences — whether in thought, speech, or action. In Balinese belief, we live in the era of Kali Yuga, a time described in Hindu tradition as an age of decline, where values of purity and virtue gradually fade. For this reason, rituals of purification are considered especially important, helping people restore balance and reconnect with spiritual harmony.

Currently, there is no way for us to make advance bookings with the temple organizer due to their policy, and they also do not accept inquiries. Please note that the temple may close without prior notice for any reason.

If this happens, we cannot offer a full refund. Instead, we will provide an alternative experience at Beji Griya Waterfall. A partial refund will be calculated based on the difference in cost — we will refund the remaining balance after deducting the Beji Griya experience.

If you feel you may be disappointed by a potential temple closure and do not wish to accept the alternative, we kindly advise not to book this experience.

This experience is limited to the Melukat Ceremony only. It does not include other spiritual practices you may expect, such as palm reading, healing consultations, or sessions with a shaman. Other spiritual experiences as such are not available on site.

This experience takes place at Taman Pecampuhan Sala Temple and is carried out in English. The full program, normally lasts around 90 to 120 minutes from start to finish.

Travelers undergoing menstruation are strictly not allowed to enter the temple or participate in the Melukat Ceremony. If you menstruate after making a booking, you can request a refund or reschedule.

Kindly check your regular menstruation cycle. Rescheduling is free, and our Refund Policy for this specific experience is strict and time-based as follows:

  • 100% refund if cancelled at least 24 hours before the pick-up time.

  • 50% refund if cancelled between 1 and 23 hours before the pick-up time.

  • No refund if cancelled less than 1 hour before the pick-up time.

Booking this experience grants you the following inclusions:

  • Entrance Fee

  • English-Speaking Guide

  • Dress Rental (Sarong)

  • Locker

  • Ceremony Materials

  • Private Shuttle Transport

This activity may require the presence of a Balinese Hindu priest. However, the ceremony can still proceed without a priest if for any reason the priest cannot be present. The experience remains meaningful with or without a priest.

This experience is private, with one guide dedicated exclusively to your group. However, the temple itself remains open to other visitors and is not reserved privately for your use.

When performing the Melukat Ceremony, you will be asked to remove your clothes, wearing only your underwear. Your clothes can be safely stored in the locker we provide. You will then receive a special garment called a Sarong to cover your body. In short, only your underwear will get wet during the ceremony. Please bring a change of underwear to wear afterward, as well as a towel to dry yourself.
