Bali Customs

When arriving in Bali, every traveler must complete the Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) form, known locally as Bea Cukai. The process is straightforward and can be done online before your flight at ecd.beacukai.go.id.

Start by visiting the website and selecting your preferred language. The very first step should be to check your arrival date before filling in any other details like name or passport number. Many travelers make the mistake of completing the whole form only to discover their arrival date is not yet available. The ECD form can only be submitted 2–3 days before arrival, so checking the date first will save you time and frustration.

The form can be filled out for a single traveler or for an entire family. One person can represent the group by declaring items and luggage on behalf of everyone. By the date this article is published, one representative may include up to 10 family members in a single submission. If traveling with more than 10, an additional form must be submitted by someone who is not included in the first submission. If you are traveling with friends rather than family, it is recommended that each person submit their own form separately.

Once completed, you’ll receive a QR code by email or directly on the website. Save it to your phone or print it out, as you’ll need to show it to customs officers upon arrival.

The questions are simple and cover basic details such as your flight information, the total number of family members traveling, and whether you are bringing in items like electronics, cash over the allowed limit, or restricted goods. Most tourists will not have anything special to declare and can just proceed with “No.”

Completing the customs declaration online is highly recommended, as it saves time at the airport and avoids long lines at the kiosks. With your QR code ready, clearing customs in Bali becomes quick and stress-free.

Procedures may change, so always check the latest instructions on the official website before submitting your form.
